New Year and another New Qualification for Jodie

Nearly three years ago having joined Baileys and Partners I decided to rejoin the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV). The CAAV is a membership organisation that represents valuers and ensures professional standards. To become a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV) there are rigorous examinations to sit. The last written exam I had taken was back at Harper Adams Agricultural College in 2002! So embarking on this process some 15 years later was a little daunting.

Having attended the necessary CAAV tutorials, I sat the required exams in November 2017, and I passed half. It is not unusual to fail part or all of the exam on the first attempt, so I was not too disappointed. With exam experience now under my belt I had confidence for the re-sit in November 2018. With lots of dedicated revision and support from the Baileys and Partners team, I was notified just before Christmas that I had passed. I was ever so pleased (cue lots of excitement and champagne in the office)!

The CAAV is a very well respected organisation and I knew that in passing the exams I would be part of an organisation which would support my work (and therefore clients) in the rural economy. Baileys and Partners offer a wide range of professional expertise which was required to be demonstrated in the CAAV examination process;

  • Valuation work for land, residential, farm and commercial buildings and renewable energy infrastructure
  • Compulsory purchase work, with North Wales being a hive of activity with regards to highways and energy infrastructure
  • Renewable energy advice and consenting from statutory bodies
  • Planning applications and advice with a particular interest in leisure and renewable energy schemes
  • Estate Management including landlord and tenant matters for residential, commercial and agricultural clients
  • Farm management, with matters relating to the Basic Payment Scheme and Agri-environment Schemes (Glastir)

I have now added the FAAV title to my signature to accompany BSc (Hons) MRICS and RICS Registered Valuer. So whats next you ask;

Dw i isio siarad Gymraeg mwy. Dw i’n dysgu Cymraeg ond rhaid i mi siarad cymraeg allan y Dosbarth !!

And if I want to I could take a Welsh exam as well! We shall see.

Wishing everyone a prosperous 2019

Jodie
