My Journey with Baileys and Partners: From Work Experience to Industry Insight, by Emma Lloyd

I have returned for my third summer of work with Baileys and Partners. It all began with a week’s work experience in 2019, followed by a summer internship in 2023 having completed my first year at Harper Adams University studying Rural Property Management. Fast forward to this summer and I have now finished my work placement year which was on a private estate in Warwickshire and returned to work alongside the team at Baileys and Partners in their office at M-SParc in Gaerwen.

Roll back to my weeks work experience in 2019, it was this week that sparked my interest in surveying and land management and it cemented my choice of university and course. The team at Baileys and Partners helped me to understand the world of surveying, land management and rural energy projects.

Fast forward to 2023, having completed my first year at Harper Adams, I returned to Baileys and Partners with a better knowledge and understanding of the industry. I was able to get far more involved in ongoing projects – boundary mapping, drafting lease documents and joining meetings on renewable energy feasibility. The team were very encouraging and helpful. By the end of that summer, I had gained confidence in professional communication and learnt a great deal in preparation for my return to University the following term.

I returned to Harper for my second year and work placement year and I am currently working for the summer with the Baileys team. I have had the opportunity to work across the land, leisure and energy sectors for the past couple of months, accompanying members of the team on valuations, assisting with planning applications and drafting agreements for landowners.

As autumn approaches, I’ll return to Harper Adams to complete my final year of studies, and thanks to the support of the team at Baileys and Partners I will return with a better practical understanding of the work required.

Thanks to everyone at Baileys and Partners for the mentorship and assistance over the past couple of months, and I am very grateful for the guidance I have received over the years.

Above is a photo of me with Huw Myfyr who recently joined the Baileys team, outside the M-SParc office in Gaerwen with our new banner ready for the Anglesey Show.
