New Year and another New Qualification for Jodie

Nearly three years ago having joined Baileys and Partners I decided to rejoin the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV). The CAAV is a membership organisation that represents valuers and ensures professional standards. To become a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV) there are rigorous examinations to sit. The last written exam I had taken was back at Harper Adams Agricultural College in 2002! So embarking on this process some 15 years later was a little daunting.

2018 Autumn Seminar – BEYOND – Wales a Land of Opportunity

We had an interactive day looking at opportunities in land, leisure and energy markets in Wales with presentations from a range of speakers. In the afternoon we had an optional walk to view a recently developed hydro scheme utilising a “homemade” turbine within the Snowdonia National Park/ Parc Eryri.

Gove sets out post-Brexit farm funding plan

In 2016 it was revealed that the Treasury would match the existing CAP funding, currently made via the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) until 2020. Under the Conservative Election Manifesto, this was extended to 2022. Subject to consultation it has been further extended by Mr Gove to 2024. The UK Government now says it wants to end “unjust” landowner subsidies after Britain leaves the EU.
