The current Farm Business Grant (FBG) window is now open (2nd March 2020 – 10th April 2020) and is a capital grant scheme available to farmers across Wales.
The FBG provides for capital investments in equipment and machinery that have been pre-identified by the Welsh Government as offering clear and quantifiable benefits to your farm. The eligible capital items have been specified along with a standardised cost. Click here for a list of eligible items.
The Welsh Government’s scheme objectives are
- to increase on-farm investment
- to increase technical performance
- to increase on-farm production efficiencies
- to increase on-farm resource efficiencies
To apply, if you have not already done so, you must register your business with Farming Connect and RPW Online in advance of applying for FBG. Eligibility for the FBG also requires the business to have had a member of the business attend a ‘Farming for the Future’ event organised by Farming Connect. Dates for the Farming for the Future event are to be confirmed. Your local development officer will be able to assist you with registering your business. Click here to find your local officer.
Having registered your business, Expressions of Interest (EoI) are submitted through RPW Online. You are able to submit EoIs with a minimum £3,000 threshold per application. The maximum overall grant threshold is £12,000.
A contract may then be offered and there will be a 120-day timescale for purchasing the items and submitting a claim, which starts from the date the contract is offered. Items cannot be purchased until the contract is accepted.
The claim will again need to be made through RPW Online using the Capital Works Claim page. Invoices for all claimed items will be required as well as an accountant’s letter confirming business turnover of £1m or less by the claim deadline.
